Lawrence Talks Podcast S2 Ep. 9 - District 10 Candidate Christina Haswood

Candidate Spotlight: District 10 Candidate Christina Haswood (D)

Episode S2E9: Show Notes.

Participation in local politics, whether as voters or as candidates running for office, is an important aspect of citizenry. In keeping up with this duty, it is important that we as citizens stay informed. With that in mind, over the next few weeks the Lawrence Talks Podcast will sit down with candidates running for local and state office. For our first episode, we sit down with democratic candidate for district 10 of the Kansas House of Representatives, Christina Haswood.

In discussing her candidacy, we focus on the values, experiences, and policy positions she would take with her to Topeka.

Key Points From This Episode:

Were she elected, Ms. Haswood would promote bipartisanship and working across the aisle. But, not at the expense of saving lives or jeopardizing women’s right to choose.

Haswood’s view on justice is that it is a matter of fairness, equity, and doing right by others. Further, she hopes to employ many of the lessons and expertise she has acquired in the field of public health towards bringing about justice through advocating for medicaid expansion.

Being a member of the Navajo Nation, she also hopes to provide a voice for Indigenous community members who have not had much presence or representation in government.
